Rhode Island MCLE Requirements

Is CLE Mandatory in Rhode Island? Rhode Island attorneys must complete 10 MCLE hours per year.More details about MCLE compliance can be found on this web page.

What specific subject matters are required in Rhode Island? Rhode Island requires that at least two of your 10 MCLE credits cover legal ethics.

How many self-study MCLE credits will satisfy Rhode Island CLE requirements? Up to six hours of online or other self-study courses may be used to satisfy your MCLE credit for Rhode Island.

Does Rhode Island have Live CLE Requirements? At least four CLE hours per year must be live.

Is a Marino CLE bundle available for Rhode Island? In the future, Marino plans to offer Mandatory Continuing Legal Education courses for Rhode Island so that you can get your MCLE hours quickly and conveniently from wherever you are.

Is the CLE provider responsible for verifying my participation? Rhode Island does not require the CLE provider to verify your attendance in CLE courses.

What special CLE requirements are newly admitted attorneys held to? Rhode Island requires all newly admitted attorneys to complete Bridging the Gap training within their first full year of admission. This training does not fulfill their MCLE requirements for the year.

Does Rhode Island require attorneys to self-report their CLE attendance? You are required to report all MCLE credit to the Rhode Island Judiciary using their online portal.
