Maine CLE Requirements

Is CLE Mandatory in Maine? Maine requires admitted attorneys to complete 12 hours of CLE training per year. More information about how to stay CLE compliant can be found in this webpage.

What specific subject matters are required in Maine? Of your 12 required CLE hours, one must cover either legal ethics and one must cover the recognition and avoidance of harassment and discrimination in the legal profession.

How many self-study CLE credits will satisfy Maine CLE requirements? You may use online and other self-study courses to satisfy up to five hours of your required CLE credit in Maine.

Does Maine have Live CLE Requirements? Yes, at least seven CLE hours must be live, in-person.

Is a Marino CLE bundle available for Maine? In the future, Marino plans to offer Continuing Legal Education courses for Maine so that you can get your online CLE hours quickly and conveniently from wherever you are.

Is the CLE provider responsible for verifying my participation? Maine does not require CLE providers to verify your participation.

What special CLE requirements are newly admitted attorneys held to? Newly admitted attorneys who complete an accredited new attorney program are exempt from CLE requirements for that year and the following calendar year.

Does Maine require attorneys to self-report their CLE attendance? You are required to report your CLE hours on your MCLE Annual Report Statement to the CLE Committee each year.

What is the certification cycle length? Annual
